Definition of Preventable Medical Errors
Medical errors occur if the health care provider adopts inappropriate method for health care, i.e. wrong diagnosing and wrong medication. The term medical errors are modified by a prefix preventable. With the rapid mushroom growth and development of the medical facilities many people die or injured as a consequence of medical errors. In a recent survey on an average of one lakh deaths occurring in a year are potentially preventable deaths (due to medical malpractices).

Diagnostic error – this could be because of the direct mistake of the doctor, surgeon, or some other practitioners. Mis communication between the different health service providers and maintaining incorrect medical records are also one of the main reasons for potentially preventable deaths.
Some of the doctors think that the adverse outcomes from errors usually do not happen because of the isolated errors. There may be several reasons and processes to allow one adverse outcome. But posing too much of blame on the system may not be constructive.
The mistakes can be easily avoided if the person is quite aware about the present scenario of medical malpractices. He/ she should be aware of the disease or the dangers faced by them and the medicines prescribed by the doctor. He/she should pester the doctor or physicians or health care provider to produce the health reports and medical records then and then. Compulsorily the victim or the blood relations of the victim should file a case against the defendant for negligence and compensation in case of any damage or any medical malpractices.
